On 28 th , August 2008, Prof. Yan Sun and Prof. David Goldstein signed an agreement which established friendly cooperational relationship between Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) and the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA).
COSA, which is the peak national body representing all professionals whose main work is cancer control focus on fostering improvements in the total care of Australians affected by cancer, promotion of cancer research, education and training of all person involved in clinical oncology and cancer research, and promoting the exchange and diffusion of information and ideas relating to management of malignancy. CSCO is dedicated to improving continuing education in clinical oncology, developing training programs in GCP and EBM, launching training programs in many suburban areas, and funding the publishing of books, periodicals and CD-ROM material on cancer prevention, treatment, etc. And thanks to the agreement, the two societies would cooperate closely in the following items:
• To promote and foster the exchange and diffusion of information and ideas relating to the causation, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neoplastic diseases;
• To provide a forum in which to encourage optimal communication between the various groups concerned with neoplastic diseases;
• To foster improvements in the total care of patients suffering from neoplastic diseases;
• To foster and promote cancer research;
• To developing a joint communiqué to be distributed to the press both in China and Australia.
After reached the agreement, the two societies would benefit from it, and strengthen our efforts in cancer care and control in the Asia Pacific region.
