The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)'s first Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Course (MCMC) in Asia was held in Xi'an, China from April 2 to 3, 2005 successfully. This important educational event was fully supported and co-sponsored by ASCO and Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO).

The aim of this course is to spread the theory of multidisciplinary treatment for cancer and present further understanding of contemporary oncology treatment concepts and guidelines among the oncology professionals in China.

The core course included multidisciplinary cancer management, cancer biology, cancer prevention and screening, etc. The Xi'an MCMC consisted of lectures, case presentations, and small group interaction to promote the involvement of participants. The course was tailored to address the educational needs in China. Lung Cancer, breast cancer, GI cancer and colorectal cancer were identified as the disease-specific topics.

The faculty was organized by ASCO and CSCO. Leading clinical oncologists from the United States, mainland China and Hong Kong were invited to give lectures or lead the case presentations. The attendees were 170 domestic clinicians in the field of oncology and general medicine.
